Wasilla AK Retired Married 2

41 years OMG!

Where does the time go? My apologies for the tardiness of this entry - over a year late! I attended the reunion and enjoyed it so much - had to reconnect.

After my junior year at Churchill my Dad was transferred to CA with his job. Our family settled into the sleepy picturesque town of Solvang, 30 miles east of Santa Barbara. I graduated from Santa Ynez Valley Union HS and married my HS sweetheart, Bryan, 2 years after graduation. He was a Navy man at the time and I was a student at Santa BarbaraCityCollege. We moved to San Jose for school in early 70’s and then followed a dream to Alaska. We spent 5 years in Naknek, a fishing village in the Bristol Bay region of the state where my husband worked as a pilot and I worked at the borough offices. It was a life lesson on the uniqueness of living in a remote village with no stores, no phones, no roads, no sirens, no gangs, abundant fish & game, amazing glimpses of nature and of people with simple life values. In ’78 we relocated back to SB with two infants and worked and went to school. The call to return to Alaska took us back in early 80’s this time to Wasilla. I continued working on my degree and working part time while raising our two sons. Bryan worked a week on and a week off managing the remote ColdBay station of Peninsula Airways.

Today our sons are married and have families of their own. Brent is a commercial pilot for PenAir and Justin is a 3rd year resident at ProvidenceHospital in Anchorage specializing in family med. I have retired after 20 years in local government, most recently after 7 years at the City of Wasilla as an assistant planner.  Bryan now commutes to his office in Anchorage, approx 50 miles south of Wasilla via his Piper Cherokee, where he is VP/Director of Ops for PenAir, the largest state regional airline.

I enjoyed the reunion so much even though I didn’t get to visit with all of you. It proved to be an emotional trip for me not having been back to DC in over 40 years; memories of a simpler time, of family and dear friends came flooding back. Thank you to all who made the reunion possible and for your hard work and dedication. I look forward to reconnecting with many of you – if Alaska is in your travel plans please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Potomac MD Retired Computer Programmer Married 1
I don't remember turning 40 years old, how can it possibly be time for a 40th reunion!  My thanks to everyone who has put this reunion together and those who persisted in locating people.  I'm married with one son (Churchill class of 2007) and an Italian greyhound.  I graduated from VCU and taught art for a few years before discovering computers. I went back to school for a technical degree and began a career in mainframe software and application development.  I'm now retired from the paid workforce and do volunteer work.

Business Manager Married 2
Paul and I remained "high school sweethearts" and were married in 1972, 4 days after college graduation. We returned to grad school in Colorado in 1973-1976 and then worked in Albuquerque for three years before moving to Ithaca, NY, and Cornell University where we have been ever since. I worked part time while the kids were growing up and for the last four years have continued full time as business manager at Ithaca's Congregational church. Our daughter and son both graduated from Cornell, one in Plant Science and the other in Mechanical Engineering. Julie just finished her PhD in Crop Science, and Andrew is working at General Electric in alternative energy systems and working on his Master's Degree. Send Cathy a MessageSend Cathy a Message

Hi, wonderful to see so many familiar "old" yearbook pictures from as far back as 1967!
I'm still teaching English at a local Highschool. Will retire coming november.
I have attended a reunion about 15 years ago, Stayed at Bill and Claudia's at the time, we had a party at Sharon Weiss' place, dinner on Saturday and a picnic on a Sundaymorning as I remember. My husband and I went to Michigan and Canada before going back home.
Doing fine at the moment, proud grandmother of 8 wonderful kids, all living in the neigbourhood.
Would appreciate to hear from someone who remembers me.
