So much to do... so little time!!

Just over 5 weeks till the party! We have EXCEEDED our expectations in donations! OVER $7,000 at the last count! We are putting the money to good use in bringing you MORE extras for your LOW ticket price!! I'll say it again - THANK YOU DONORS!!!

New RSVP's keep coming in! This week: Karen Kesecker Shellenberger is coming! John Rice just confirmed he will honor us with his presence! Kathy Garcia Pegues ('67) is on the fence as a maybe - come on Kathy! Kim Waggoner just confirmed he will be there!

Checks are starting to roll in too! Thank you! If you haven't paid yet - remember - tickets MUST be purchased BEFORE the event - no sales at door.

Don't forget to RSVP for Picnic (new selection on RSVP page). It's FREE - we just need to know how many drinks & snacks to purchase.

If you want to help with reunion - send me (Bob Richardson) an email via the Contact Us page.

Wish I was retired like half our classmates are! Not enough hours in the day!!

Reunion Update

Getting close! As I write this, only 48 days until the reunion!

So far (as of 5/11/08) we have 109 RSVP'd as coming and several still trying to work out their schedule so they can come. We are still sending postcards out - if you know someone's email or home address, let us know (Contact Us)!

Katie Radford Gorman has the picnic site reserved (Seneca Creek Park in Gaithersburg). We will be providing soft drinks, water, snacks. Bring the family, kids, grandkids! Grills are available if you want to bring your own food to cook. This is a nice time to get reacquainted prior to the night's activities! If you want to help Katie - let us know!

Photographer is lined up to take a group shot of all classmates. She will also take casual shots during the evening.

Susan Baker & Weida Walker Stoecker are moving forward with some fun decorating ideas... If you want to help them, let us know!

DJ has the list of songs you requested - I'll update him prior to event. He said he will go through the...

Car rental prices going up!

TIP: If you are flying in and renting a car, and have not yet reserved one.... you may want to reserve one now before prices go even higher!

I reserved a Standard size car a couple weeks ago for $155 total - Dulles Airport for one week. Lowest price today is $270! You can always cancel if price drops.

Calling all teachers!

We would like to invite some of our teachers to attend the reunion. Larry Jeweler and his wife are not only coming... they are helping to sponsor the reunion with a generous donation!!

A few other names have been discussed. Ron Shurie? Elisabeth Moffett? Jerry Griggs? Others? Would someone like to volunteer to try to track down some teachers and invite them as our guest (no cost) to attend the reunion?

Time is getting close so we need to contact classmates and teachers ASAP!

Holy Cow! Less than 60 Days and Counting!

Getting close! By the time you are reading this, we will be less than 60 days from Reunion Day!

I'm sure you saw that we added a Buy Tickets link so you can buy your tickets online - or save $5 and mail us a check. Don't wait until the last minute to buy your tickets... I don't have any more hair to pull out - and don't need the stress of wondering how many will actually come!! We have over 100 RSVP's as coming so far (including spouses)... hope to have at least 125.

Also added the In Memoriam page to honor our classmates that are no longer with us. Let me know who we missed. Still working on this page as I have time. It gets sad as I scan in pictures and remember the good times as kids.

So far I have one volunteer for the decorating committee - Weida Walker Stoecker ('67) (Thanks Weida!!) .... We have a fairly large budget (thanks to donors!!) so need more people to help Weida and come up with cool decorations! Let me (Bob Richardson) know if you want to get involved.

Tickets for the "Prom"!

My wife keeps referring to the reunion as "the Prom."  As in, "How's your Prom coming along?"  I reply, "Just fine." So, I guess I am going to "the prom" alone as she stays in CA with our dog... :-)

Jimmy Perrin came out to CA to visit with me last week and we discussed ticket prices. We reviewed our costs and our donations (Thank You!!) and figured the ticket price should be $60. I’ll add a shopping cart to the website for online purchasing. Online price will be $65 which will cover the 8% fee charged by the shopping cart. You can mail your payment of $60/ticket (and save the $5 fee) to:
Make check payable to: Churchill Reunion 40
Mail to:
Churchill Reunion 40
P.O. Box 13024
Shawnee Mission, KS 66212
If mailing your check, include name of guest (spouse) if coming so we can prepare a name tag. I’ll post more info on purchasing tickets on a separate web page (coming soon). Someone asked, "Why Shawnee Mission, KS?" -- That's where Mark Landry l...

Repondez s'il vous plait

Otherwise known as RSVP! Trying to remember who said they were coming and who said they weren't is confusing my old brain... To keep things kind of straight and organized, please RSVP on this website. You can indicate Yes you are coming, No you know you can't make it, or Not Sure yet.... most of you have ventured into RSVP land and completed the quick little form... some of you have yet to go there. The way RSVP works is it keeps track of who's coming or not or not sure -- so I don't have to try and remember it all. Then puts it in an Excel file for me. Nice!

If you click Not Sure and then decide you are coming (or not) - just go back and RSVP again. I see many names on the Names Contacted list that I am pretty sure are coming but don't know for sure or if bringing a guest. If there is a number next to your name then you RSVP'd.

We need to know approx. numbers so we can finalize ticket pricing. Speaking of ticket pricing - if you want to join the ELITE and see your na...

Committees, Donations, Music, Oh My!

Wow! Is all I can say! Many of you have come through with the donations BIG TIME! THANKS!! A special thanks to MARK LANDRY & JIM (JUMBO) WISE for their BIG donations to be our SUPER-DUPER DOGS!! and to TOD THEROS who just came on board as our first BULLDOG! and to ALL of the others! We are up to $4525 so far! Hope to surpass $5,000!

Time to start thinking committees! Decoration Committee, Sign-in Committee, Picnic Committee - what else?? Katie Radford (Gorman) has been our Picnic Committee - but she can probably use some help... picnic will basically be bring your own food, drinks, etc... informal get together... ice breaker. Not much set up on our part.

Decoration Committee is a biggie! Theme? Budget? etc. Volunteers?

Sign-in Committee - organize sign-ins, name tags, dinner tickets, etc. I think Marjie Andrea (Greenwood) volunteered to help here... but she will need help.

Music! Many of you have emailed me songs you want to hear. I have the list under SONGS (ver...

Want to be Top Dog of Reunion?

How would you like the title of Super Duper Dog! Or, better yet - Top Dog of Class of '67 & '68 Reunion!! All it takes is a donation to the Reunion to win the admiration and awe from your fellow classmates!! Click on the Sponsorship link for more details.

If we can raise $5,000 (or more), we can throw one heck of a party AND keep ticket prices low so more people can attend! Plus we will put the Sponsors and all the Dogs on signs around the event. We have even more public humiliation (I mean celebration) in store for the Super Dogs - Super Duper Dogs - and Top Dog!

Getting Close!

Now is the time to reach out and contact that long lost friend! Even a good excuse to contact an old flame! If we can get the count to 100, and if we can get some donations - (need about $3000 in donations) - we may be able to peg the ticket price at $68! (get it - 1968 - $68)... :-)

Trick is getting numbers up and getting donations. Not a bad price for a picnic, free drinks during happy hour, a nice buffet dinner, dancing to sounds from the 50s, 60s, 70's and current... Not to mention seeing old friends and at least for a night, feeling a little younger!

If you or your business can afford it - please pledge a donation for the cause - either anonymously or by name and we will shower you with praise and bow to your feet!
